Chief Minister Madhu Koda celebrated Makar Sakranti at Ramtrith Dham on the banks of river Vaitrani in his constituency on the Orissa-Jharkhand border.
The CM inaugurated a ghat for sacred dip of the devotees in the river before turning to people who had assembled in great numbers to celebrate the festivities there. The CM after offering prayers to Lord Shiva in the shrine prayed for the prosperity of the State.
The CM pledged for the development of the tirth. The river is held sacred in Hindu mythology and is considered the doorway to the heaven. The CM said the action plan for the development of the place as a tourist destination is ready and soon work will start on the project. He announced development of the stretch of river vaitrani flowing along the temple complex as water sports centre and a residential complex for the lodging of devotees flocking there from across the States.
