JMM Chief Sibu Soren ill, fails to reach Jamtara Court

 JMM chief Sibu Soren could not appear before a Jamtara Court on Tuesday for hearing in the Chirudih massacre case due to illness.

The court of first additional district and sessions judge district and sessions judge fixed February 3 as the next day of hearing after Sibu's lawyer submitted a medical certificate stating his client's illness.

Additional public prosecutor Anil Mahto said the statements of other accused could not be recorded because of Soren's absence. He said Section 313 of the CrPC makes the presence of all accused in court mandatory for recording statements.

Soren, who is lodged in Dumka Central Jail, complained of uneasiness on Monday afternoon after appearing before a local court in a case related to violation of model code of conduct during the last parliament elections. The medical board, which examined Soren, advised him rest.
